Sweet Wormwood Single Herb Tincture
Nature’s Powerful Herbal Remedy
Sweet Wormwood (Artemisia annua) is a special plant with a long history of use in traditional medicine. It has been used for centuries to support overall wellness and is most famous for its ability to help fight malaria. In fact, in 2015, half of the Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded for research on Sweet Wormwood—showing just how important this herb is! The other half of the prize went to Ivermectin, another well-known remedy.
Starting in 2020, scientists began looking at natural herbs to see how they might help support the body during viral infections like COVID-19. A review of 20 laboratory studies (conducted in 2020 and 2021) showed that the natural compounds in Sweet Wormwood might help stop the SARS-CoV-2 virus in several ways. The research suggests that it may prevent the virus from attaching to cells, fusing with cell membranes, and making copies of itself. However, more studies are needed to see if these effects work the same way in humans.
But that’s not all! Sweet Wormwood is also known for its strong antimicrobial properties. This means it helps fight against harmful bacteria and other germs, making it an excellent herb for immune support. Many people use it to help with various health concerns, including:
Arthritis: May help ease discomfort and support joint health.
Asthma Support: Used traditionally to support easier breathing.
Digestive Health: Helps promote a healthy digestive system.
Blood Sugar Balance: May assist in maintaining healthy blood sugar levels.

Internal Uses
This plant is also commonly referred to as sweet wormwood or sweet Annie. In China, this herb is known as huang hua hao. Artemisia annua was used as far back as 200BC in traditional Chinese medicine as a herbal remedy for malaria and fevers due to its artemisinin content, a phytochemical that works to treat malaria. This herb has also been shown to help to reduce symptoms of arthritis, as well as with blood sugar regulation. Because it shares properties with ivermectin, sweet wormwood is considered by some experts to be ivermectin’s natural equivalent. In 2015, artemisinin was awarded half of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for its success as a frontline treatment for malaria. The other half of the award was given to ivermectin for its success in treating roundworm infections. Ivermectin is derived from a bacterium through a manmade process. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it became one of the most controversial drugs. What’s unique about artemisinin and its derivatives is that it has a hydrogen peroxide bridge in its chemical structure. Hydrogen peroxide is highly reactive, and studies suggest that it reacts with iron in what’s known as the Fenton reaction. Viruses and parasites require iron to proliferate. Some viruses and parasites infect only cells that store iron and sequester iron in infected regions. A virus’s or parasite’s tendency to increase iron storage during an infection makes artemisinin a good treatment candidate. While artemisinin is an incredibly effective compound in combatting malaria, it has one downside in that it is rapidly metabolized and moves through the bloodstream quickly. Hence, it cannot be used prophylactically to prevent malaria. Research shows that sweet wormwood has strong antimicrobial properties. This makes it one of the best herbs for immune health.
